A SOUTH AUSTRALIAN STEINER CLARET JUG
Scammells are excited to be offering an 1870's South Australian colonial silver claret jug by J.H. Steiner in our November Showcase Sale on the evening of Monday 25th November at 6pm
This stunning exhibition piece, is a claret jug with a natural emu egg body mounted in sterling silver.
The neck and spout in the form on an emu head, with a "S"- shaped snake handle, thumb flip lid and feathered collar. The socle base features engraved fern decoration, and the foot rim shows clearly struck linear hallmarks comprising: Crown - H. Steiner - Adelaide and lion passant. Overall height is 33cm.
